Sunburn SOS- 3 skin savers
Here's a peek into my life as friends go to skin care gal. I woke up the other morning to a text from a friend. They are on vacation and her husband got a bad sunburn and is now "Hella itchy, what do I do?" I had a feeling my friend isn't the only one experiencing this issue so I thought I'd pop in with 3 tips to help calm a sunburn.
1) First and foremost, hydration is key—both inside and out! I highly recommend pure aloe vera gel for topical relief, as it wonderfully moisturizes the skin. Stay away from products with fragrances, as they can worsen dryness. And don’t forget, sunburn often goes hand-in-hand with dehydration, so make sure to increase your water intake to assist your body’s healing journey.
2) Next, consider incorporating pure lavender essential oil into your routine. Its soothing properties can work wonders for sunburned skin. Just a few drops applied to the affected area a couple of times a day can make a big difference! For even more comfort, mix it with aloe vera gel for a refreshing combo.
3) Avoid further sun exposure. This may seem like a no brainer but it has to be said. If the skin has been compromised, cover it so it doesn't get worse.
I hope having these tips in your back pocket will help. Don't forget to reapply sun protection every 2 hours or after swimming.
